About Chime Trail
Chime Trail is a free, offline-friendly rhythm game played with one continuous gesture instead of a stream of taps. A traveller walks a mountain path under a cord of hanging chimes, and you press to open a resonance span and release to close it — both edges are judged against the beat grid, and every chime the trail carried through the span rings together as one chord. A span is legal at one to four beats, so the real decision is how much to gather before you let go, not whether you can hit a single note. Dead chimes crack the phrase and cost resonance; a full phrase mends one back. Fifteen authored groves across three named trails each introduce one new idea, and after them the Endless Drift keeps going.
How to play
Press anywhere and hold to open a span, then release to close it. Both the press and the release are judged against the beat: land within the window and the edge reads as on-grid, otherwise it drifts. Every chime that the cord carried through your span rings together as a single chord when you release, so a longer span is worth more — but it is also more chances to catch a cracked chime, which costs resonance from the lantern flame at the right. A span is only legal at one, two, three or four beats. Completing a full phrase mends one point of resonance back. Resonance reaching zero ends the walk. Clearing a grove banks a charm and moves you along the trail; three named trails of five groves each come before the Endless Drift, and your progress carries between sessions. Two clean groves in a run earn one Still Air, which freezes the drift once so a bad stretch does not end the walk.
